This notice describes our privacy policy.  The New Jersey Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, (NJAAOM) is aware that the privacy of your personal information is of concern to all of you and any information that is collected will be safeguarded and used carefully and wisely.

By visiting the NJAAOM website, you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

Information Gathered

The information we learn from our members helps us personalize and improve your experience at the NJAAOM website.  The following are the types of information we collect:

Information You Give Us:  We receive and store any information you enter on our website or give us in any other way.  You can choose not to provide certain information, but then you may not be able to take advantage of many of our features.  We use the information that you provide mainly for responding to your requests, communicating with you and managing your membership. 

Automatic Information:  We receive and store certain information whenever you interact with us.  For example, like many websites, we use “cookies” and we obtain certain types of information when your Web browser accesses the NJAAOM website.

Information from Other Sources:  We receive information from the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs containing the name, license number and status, and address of record with the State of NJ, for all NJ Licensed Acupuncturists.

Cookies

A “cookie” is a piece of data – usually a text file – that is transferred to your computer or other devices when you visit a particular website.  The “cookie” is used to identify your device to the website, so it can load your preferences, automatically accept your credentials or otherwise personalize your experience.  “Cookies” do not store personal information about you, just information identifying your device.  Most web browsers accept cookies by default.  You can choose whether to accept “cookies” however in order to access this website as a member, your computer or other device must be able to accept “cookies”.

Sharing Information

We are not in the business of selling your personal information to others, but we do need to share in some circumstances as described below:

Third-Party Service Providers:  We may share certain information in order to provide you with discounts on AOM products and services, CEU discounts, processing credit care payments, sending postal mail and email, and providing customer service as some examples.  If information is shared for a particular function, it cannot be used for other purposes. 

Protection of the NJAAOM website and Others:  WE release account and other personal information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law; enforce or comply with other agreements; or protect the rights, property, or safety of the NJAAOM website, our users, or others.  This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for fraud protection and credit risk reduction.  This does not include selling, renting, sharing, or otherwise disclosing personally identifiable information from members for the commercial purposes in violation of the commitments set forth in this Privacy Notice.

With Your Consent:  Other than as set out above, you will receive notice when information about you might go third parties, and you will have an opportunity to choose not to share the information.

Website Security

We use a website host and software that employs Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts information you input.

We reveal only the last digits of your credit card numbers when confirming an order.  Of course, we must transmit the entire credit number to the appropriate credit card company to process a purchase or transaction.

It is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your password and to your computer.  Be sure to log out when using a shared computer.

Third-Party Advertisers and Links to Other Websites 

Our site does not include third-party advertising.  It does include links to other websites.  We do not provide any personally identifiable customer information to these third-party websites.

Member Access to Information

The NJAAOM website gives you access to a broad range of information about your account and your interactions with the NJAAOM website for the limited purpose of viewing and, in certain cases, updating that information.

The Choice is Yours

As discussed above, you can always choose not to provide information, even though it might be needed to process a transaction or take advantage of NJAAOM website features.

Notices and Revisions

If you choose to visit the NJAAOM website, your visit and any dispute over privacy is subject to this Notice, including limitations on damages, arbitration of disputes, and application of the law of the state of New Jersey.  If you have any concern about privacy at the NJAAOM website, please contact us with a thorough description, and we will try to resolve it.
